Church Raising the Roof Update

For those of you who didn’t make the Raising the Roof meeting last night, you missed out on a great evening. We even had some excellent wine which was donated and will be available again soon at a wine tasting that is being organised and I suggest you don’t miss out!

As someone who wasn’t in the village five years ago when the Church Roof fund was initiated we didn’t know much about the details. Last night was an eye opener as to the scale of the task that the Parish Church Committee undertook.

I was amazed that in the last 4.5 years they have managed to raise a massive £45000.00!!!! A big thank you to all of the PCC for all your efforts and of course a big thank you to all the villagers past and present who have also made this a huge success.

The next thing is for the work to actually be undertaken this will happen at some point next year and there will be updates sent out when they know the details.

Concert in the Church

Please come and support a rather interesting musical event coming up on Thursday 21st May. We are organising a village concert as a fund raiser for the church. It is a little unusual! Some musician friends from near Salisbury have offered to give a concert where they will play cello and violin – but also singing bowls and gongs to create a rather special meditative sound.

Afterwards there will be a glass of wine and a chance to “meet the instruments” and the players.   It will be rather lovely to have singing bowls and a huge gong interweaving sounds with cello and violin in our beautiful acoustic in the church at Stanton.

All are welcome. Please just reserve your tickets with Rachael Schneider – Rachael@pricescottage.co.uk 01672 851362, and see the attached poster for more details.

Easter Fun amidst the rain

Following a lovely Easter Day Service in All Saints Church, lots of people enjoyed some Easter fun in the Village Hall.

An Easter egg hunt, Guess whose egg, egg basket making and the 100 Club Draw were all enjoyed along with hot drinks and delicious cakes.

A presentation was made to the retiring Church Warden, Jacky Read, of a teak garden chair from the grateful villagers.Egg hunt 1 Egg hunt 2 hall 1 Jacky 1
